This was the response I expected. Again, where was this pre 2015? I've read lots of article about whey NN was written and why it's being repealed. It boils down to a pissing match. FCC vs. FTC. There are still laws in place like the telecommunications act of 1996 that will prevent us from being "Portugal" and other euro trash countries. FCC in 2015 made a power move and took over regulation from FTC. It's going back to FTC, not going away.

Because, dimwit, neutrality was the default of the internet starting out.
Then companies using it as a delivery service, who paid their bills while you were also paying yours found out ISPs were throttling the network for their own gain, disrupting the service you were supposed to be getting.
With this feather ISPs can now take it further and attempt to put the internet into service boxes like TV offerings.
So a free market internet is now under threat. Because now the ISPs can be bolder in obstruction of it's use.
No one was saying one price on the ISPs or Free Internet. But instead of this the rate for a 15mb or 50mb or 100mb.
We're stepping on a road that will look like cable offerings. And that's not what an ISP is for. Just access to the internet not zones of the internet.

The only people who benefit from this decision are the owners of cable companies since they can now price gouge you even more. I hope you guys don't use Netflix or other streaming services.
Dude I’m not cheering or jeering this decision but your paranoia ridiculous(and probably just fake) What are you even basing this on?
NN is only two years old? Are you completely unaware of what things were like 2 years ago?

Verizon caught throttling Netflix traffic even after its pays for more bandwidth
Federal Trade Commission can handle unfair practices such as this. WE ARE NOT PORTUGAL.

For those of you that think that big Gov is your friend and savior from the big bad corporations, take a look at the bio for the man who instituted NN.
This is the fox guarding the henhouse you retards.

Thomas Edgar "Tom" Wheeler (born April 5, 1946)[1][2] is an American businessman and politician. He was the 31st Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and a member of the Democratic Party.[3][4]
He was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November 2013.[1] Prior to working at the FCC, Wheeler worked as a venture capitalist and lobbyist for the cable and wireless industry, whom the FCC is now responsible for regulating, and holding positions including President of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA).

Under President George W. Bush, the FCC outlined a series of guiding principles that would eventually lead to the 2015 net neutrality rules. Then-FCC Chairman Michael Powell, in a 2004 speech, said Internet users should enjoy four fundamental freedoms: The freedom to access any Web content of their choice, so long as it was legal; the freedom to use any online application; the freedom to use their home broadband connections on any device; and the freedom to get subscription information from their own providers.

They are going to throttle your usage to those sites unless you pay more for a package

The only answer I get is because they might make one slower than the other.

And yet the ISPs fought tooth and nail to stop NN and successfully lobbied for it's repeal, you fool.

They have been found to do it before they will definitely do it again now that its legal

Lol right I used the shite out of WatchESPN (which for a while was ESPN3) in 2011, 12, and 13..
There's a lot of stupidity going on in here with people who didn't start streaming stuff until 1-2 years ago just assuming that everyone else is in the same boat.
I have a Samsung SmartTV from 2012 that has built-in Netflix, and Apps for HBO GO and Watch ABC.
Just because your sorry arse was still renting DVDs from 2012-2015 doesn't mean everyone else was. The internet was working just fine.

And how was this controlled prior to NN?

Nothing---the point is technology has moved so fast that the tech and the streaming world of 2012 etc is nothing like it is now and nothing like it will be 5-10 years from now
