True - which is why I'm leaning towards setting price before the trip to settle the deal. KBB range for private sale is 14.6k to 16.8k. I will say that the car looks to be in great shape and has low mileage so is probably in the middle to high part of that range, but what I am willing/able to pay right now is basically 15k.

No shame in that. I don't think $14,600 is an offensive lowball. I would send him a picture of the KBB screen "you're on the high end of this range..."
Unless you've got a 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup truck, selling a vehicle on CL can take forever. I'd actually offer $14k and give yourself some room.
