This is always such a stupid argument. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall the NCAA separating a coach's wins by "motivator" vs. wins by "great tacticians". Regardless of Dale's strengths or weakness, he won. A lot. At a place that had no real significant history of winning prior to his arrival.

Hell, Trent Johnson was probably a better x/o's guy that Brown. Would you rather his one SEC crown followed by 3 bad seasons or the guy who "motivated" his way to 4 SEC championships; 13 NCAAT appearances and 2 Final Fours? He also retired as the second-winningest coach in SEC history!

Yes, Dale probably underachieved with some talent teams. He also over-achieved with some less talented teams. He took an 11 seed to the Final Four in '86 then came within 1 point of taking a 10 seed to the Final Four the very next season.

If Wade gets even close to the career accomplishments of Dale Brown then he will be regarded as one of the best coaches in SEC history. Dale gets unfairly shite on because some of his teams failed to live up the the high expectations HE ESTABLISHED, and because it is the popular thing to do. LSU was a virtual nobody in SEC basketball (outside of Pistol Pete and Bob Petit) before Dale arrived.
