Do you really not see that you are trying to have the government regulate ISPs like they did phone companoes back in the day?

Are you about to tell me that the regulated phone/ld industry was good for consumers and we should go back to it?

One land-based provider, sure. There are other options, and they improve with technology.

Actually I'd like to see them regulated by setting a minimum standard that every ISP has to abide by.. I don't care if it's via NN and labeling the internet a telecom or by EO and simply disallowing fast/slow lanes to protect free speech and the distribution of content. Quality of ISP service has improved dramatically since net neutrality.. proof is in the pudding.

Most Americans (by a lot) oppose reversing the decision.. plutocracy sucks especially when it's visible

Of all issues for the GOP to support this is by far the strangest. It's up there with the war on drugs as far as being universally despised
