War Dog: A Soldiers Best Friend HBO series

To anyone who watched this, Paul Leslie and his wife of the Desoto County Mississippi Sheriffs Department are the two most selfish people to ever inhabit the planet. It is shameful that he wears a badge and is a member of the law enforcement community.
A US Army Ranger started a dog program and trained a dog named Mika. Dog handler was on patrol and shot in Afghanistan or Iraq and returned to US due to wounds. Dog was kept in service because he could continue the mission. It was quickly found that after the engagement that wounded his handler the dog was shell shocked and retired from US Military service.
Dog was given by Military to Desoto County. Paul Leslie had the dog in service until it retired. The Ranger who trained the and handled the dog in a combat zone and was the first and only dog he handled, who is suffering from PTSD, contacted Paul Leslie who selfishly not only refused to allow the Ranger to have the dog as is customary as the Trainer/handler/Ranger gets first pick of a dog he trained once it is retired, but refused to allow the Ranger to see the dog, and offered him a "picture" before ultimately refusing to speak with the Ranger and cutting off contact.
Personally I think this is a Despicable and selfish human being.
What say the OT.

So, a man went to war with the dog. The dog was his companion. The man was injured and the war messed him up mentally and these folks refused to let him have the dog after the dog was retired. Yep, they sound like nominees for the POS awards. What was their reasoning for not letting the man have the dog?

While I will watch the movie this Leslie character sounds like an A1 POS, I assume he built a tight bond with the dog but still.

Do you know any synonyms of selfish?

Refusing to allow the serviceman to see the dog is bullshite.

I watched it and ai agree. How long do you think it's going to be before that guy sues HBO for making him look bad? He seems like the type that would do it. That documentary is going to follow that guy around forever.
What goes around comes around and I think his is coming around.

Did Leslie own the dog all along? He's an a-hole obviously, just wondering about some details.

I haven't seen the show, but if the guy has PTSD is he fit at this point to care for a dog? Is there a fear he would put the dog in harms way?

The Ranger was fine. Raising his kids and married. Just missed the dog he went through hell with.
This Paul guy had the opportunity to be the GOAT hero. Turned himself into the GOAT villain.
Hopefully this will follow him around and he will be shunned by the K9 community.

No.
The dog was owned by the military. Supposedly the soldier had an option to adopt the dog once the dog was retired. The cop supposedly wasn't aware of this and adopted the dog once he retired as a police dog.

I cannot watch something like that.
If I was that soldier, I would lose my shite.

After watching the story About Mika
And listening to Paul Leslie and is completely unsympathetic wife to the most unAmerican people I've ever heard in my life try to explain how justified they are at not even letting this man to see this dog that was a huge part of his life even just to see the dog I guarantee you the screams coming out of the dog and soldier would've made everyone on that show that watched it cry because the bond that they had was ripped away
In that hospital room when the dog shut down and like I said two of the most unAmerican people I've ever seen in my life and then tell this man call me tomorrow we'll see what happens shameful

The Leslie family should be ashamed!! Mika deserved to see Dixon!! So selfish and now their kids will carry on with what they have been taught. Karma

I'm ashamed Paul Leslie is representing law enforcement in my home state. I realize hearts would be broken if Mika was returned as the Leslie family had bonded with Mika. A man would have made the tough choice to return Mika to the Ranger. He almost gave his life for this country while trying to protect Mika in the heat of battle. You could tell he was hurting without Mika.
The Leslie kids' life, regardless of what they have been told, will be tough when they view the film. I'm sure Paul and his wife have not told the kids the truth. It was time to be a MAN and Paul Leslie failed that test.

shite like that and people like that make me grind my teeth. Wow, just unbelievable.

I also saw that story and was disgusted by the actions of Paul Leslie. That was one of the most selfish acts I think I’ve seen. Man takes a bullet (literally) for this country, and Paul didn’t even have the common decency to let him see his dog or just spend a little time with him. I personally think he should have given the dog to him, and maybe just asked to be able to visit him once in a while.
That man is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with this country. Self centered arse hat, only concerned with himself and what benefits him. Nauseating....

I just watched the show, and completely agree. That Paul Leslie and his wife seem cold, selfish and heartless! As far as the DeSoto, MS Sheriff’s Dept., they appear insensitive at best, and probably corrupt as well. Shame on the way they treated a wounded war veteran and his dog!

Shame on Paul Leslie, and that Sheriff’s Dept!
