You've never been on a pipeline through the middle of the desert of Nevada where the closest town with a single roach motel is a daily 2 hr drive to and from the job site. In those cases good companies will find a ranch house or something to rent for employees to share. Granted its not ideal but its better than spending 4 hrs a day driving and working 12 on top of that.
