If you compared the biggest liability in our offensive attack vs their defense, it was Danny Etling and our OL being put into obvious passing situations. Etling is not accurate, had just thrown a pick to a LB on a short out-route to Guice.
Our OL showed they struggled in the second half protecting Etling when we were in obvious passing situations.

So why would you want the coaches to force Etling to throw the ball there when we would have to consistently pass to move the ball into scoring position with that kind of time on the clock. You may not like it, but the better thing to do there was to win time of possession, keep them off the field, and start with the ball in the third quarter where Saban couldn't scheme knowing we would have to pass on that drive.

The game was never winnable because LSU was so limited at QB, but that likely ends with this season.

I think people are hopeful because LSU wasn't outclassed in the trenches.

It's embarrassing the level of football IQ that you lack. Steve Spurrier would have run the clock out in that situation.
Eplain. We wasted a possession with 3 minutes left.

Why is the last 3 minutes of the half, different than the first 3 minutes of the second half? Seriously explain that logic.....

OP has valid points. It was better than last year offensively but that isn’t saying much. It was still not particularly impressive. LSU moved the ball better in 2012 and barely lost...’that game was much closer than this one.

Also be careful if the team is feeling too good about playing Bama respectfully. A&M played them closer, took that as a moral victory, and did them no good in the long haul.

There was a serious concern that we had lost the program after our early showings. To see that we haven’t regressed and have the opportunity to see the program continue to improve is great.

Forgive me for being excited to see some fight and some success against a team I was scared would beat us by 35.

Our average starting field position was the 19 yard line Alabama’s was the 35 and we still outgained them and were 3 mistakes away from winning the damn game. Why are you pretending to be an LSU fan?

Take away the missed sack by battle and they don’t score their first TD, take away the stupid decision and Int inside our 40 and they don’t get the second TD and if Chark catches the last deep ball we win the game by a score. Those 3 mistakes were the difference in the game you can add the 3 other deep balls that Etling blew but since those plays never came to a head I’ll leave them out. The point is our staff outschemed theirs by a wide margin and have proven they can put our players in position to beat Bama which hasn’t been the case in awhile.

LSU should have taken a shot before the half. Absolutely.. until that mentality changes we will continue to lose to them.

Certainly Ole Miss and A&M didn't play like that against them in their wins.

Main reason is they killed us on field position. Chark did not do a great job decision making, and their punter bombed us high and deep.

We saw nothing Saturday night that we haven’t seen in every game in this series for a decade.

Well, last year we were shut out at home and had 6 first downs with 125 total yards, so we didn't see offensive points or sustained drives last year.

In 2013 and 2015, Bama ran all over us in the 2nd half (and Derrick Henry won the Heisman because of it in 2015). We didn't wear down this year.

Also, it wasn't 14-0 in the first quarter and we were down by 11 in the 4th quarter. Truthfully, 2-3 completions on the longer passes and not having the interception could have made a huge difference. We didn't make the plays though.

“ or able to see the difference between this game and the last few”

How about those fans blowing smoke up everybody’s arse as they try find ways to cover up the fact we were never really in this ball game after Bama went up 14-0 with 1min. gone in the 2nd quarter and then 21-3 late in the 3rd?

6 sacks and any number hurries don’t equate to any special protecting the QB that I know bout. Why do you think Danny didn’t see a number of wide open guys? Cause he was releasing the ball quicker than I had seen all yr. He wasn’t going through reads because he didn’t have the time.

How far are our expectations going to drop? Now, not getting beat by three touchdowns and moving the ball enough to score 10 points is some kind a big deal.

Etling is usually slow releasing the ball. Some of the sacks were on him because he had adequate time back there (especially the last one where they pulled him). They pulled him for a reason.

Our OL dominated on Saturday. We havnt seen that against Bama in years. If they did that while Fournette was here he would have rushed for 150.

It was a field position game that we were never able to shift. Even with better offensive stats, this is a tell tale statistic.

Backed up on your own 5-yard line when Nick Saban KNOWS you have to throw is not the time to "risk shite" against Alabama.

It's a fair point they wasted a lot of time on that drive considering there were just under 3 minutes left in the half.

That said, we did make two first downs. I don't have a huge problem with the playcalls, more with the total lack of hurry up. In that situation, it's totally reasonable to run the ball a little and avoid giving them an easy pick 6 or great field position.

I think the defence played great, but they dropped a few balls that should have been caught. That may have made a difference for 1st downs.

We moved the ball with running plays because they were playing the pass just in case. If we have 2 incompletions we have to punt it back to them with time left from inside our own 20. That starategy was fine we eliminated any chance of giving the ball back with a short field.
