Clearly, we had our best rushing game against Alabama since 2011. That was in large part to our scheme which requires Alabama to cover the entire field and makes the linebackers and safties hold their ground to account for the sweep. The purpose of the sweep isn't necessarily to make big gains, it's to open up running lanes in the middle of the field.

Don't tell that to Broski!!! Facts don't matter.

I was encouraged by the strength they showed at the point of attack. Etling had time to throw on early downs. Our WRs have no hot routes which is very frustrating, you could just tell what was going to happen when they'd blitz their nickel. They gained positive yards after contact and plays were there to be made downfield that weren't necessarily there the last couple matchups.

Aranda had a great plan. They hit that one big throw where Toliver was a bit behind and slipped, and a couple QB runs, but they played well enough to give us a chance. Got pretty consistent pressure. One of Lac's best games. Key was great. We bent a little on 3rd down but those guys are playing knowing they have almost zero margin for error.

Only beef i have w Canada was the 2nd and goal call before halftime and they should have taken a TO as soon as they showed blitz in the second half. Could have been a different game if we hit just one of those deep passes and White gets a fingertip to that 3rd down ball.

In other words it was nice to see them actually compete. Last year's team had no business getting blanked at home. Plus the battle up front was as balanced as it's been in years. I expected a similar score but not to out gain them especially with the success we had on the ground.

Tough thing is I'm afraid next year is a 4-5 loss year. Don't know if O has enough cache to get people to buy into the rebuilding talk, so he'd do well to win out here.

Also, if you've listened to what some guys in and around the program have said about that game they were expecting Miss St to just roll over. Those guys went into that game cocky as hell and didn't think State would even challenge them.

Why the frick would anyone have thought that???

They beat the frick out of us in 2014, and we won one score games in 15 and 16.

But thanks for your insider info. Glad to know the youth and talent excuse was bullshite. Sounds like just plain old coaching failure to not get the guys up for a fight in a road game like that

The deep ball incompletions were the big blemish of the night. We complete one or 2 of those and Bama is really sweating. Agree on other points. D came ready to play.

Which is why I think next year is looking up. I'm really looking forward to seeing this young defense in year 2. On offense, I think we'll be a little more pass oriented. Im looking forward to these big WR's breaking out in year 3. RB will be thin but I think they'll be able to patch that with jet sweeps and a possible FR or JUCO back.

No, but it is going to take a couple of years to get back to the level of an Alabama. In the interim, you look for progress in the right direction. Rome wasn't built in a day.

You my friend need to learn the game of football. The difference in this game was QB play. We out played them for the first time in a while with the exception of our QB sucking. I have been pro etling all along but reality showed it’s ugly face he just isn’t good.

Yeah it's kind of embarrassing to see how far the standards have fallen for some of the fan base.

Auburn was a good win. And it's the only one this team has all year. Beating Florida by one is almost like a loss at this point.

You were saying something about moving goal posts?

Neaux it’s just that most fans simply choose to enjoy the season the best they can and not cry and whine about losing a game we didn’t expect to win givin our current situation at QB. The kid plays hard with the skill set he has. We choose not to be miserable because you provide a good example of what that must be like. I don’t believe in moral victories.

I think our LBs will be good nect year. Taylor is physically impressive and I've heard good things about Queen.

Drake, Sullivan, and Anderson can be studs. Giles is supposed to be good. Just got to be patient w Brennan and not scar the kid.

Content, no. Relieved that we were competitive against them this season. Expect a whole lot more from now on.

This is exactly why O didn't play aggressive before halftime and risk giving up another score. He knew if he'd just kept it close the good ole boy retards would eat it up and yap about moral victories

Do you really think Bama is only 14 points better than us talent wise? We had opportunities to win this game with a much less talented team. This points to much improved coaching. Less Miles would have been blown out of the building with this team.

Not me... We got whipped by them AGAIN... They made it look easy in the 1st half and we got beat up the second half....

All the LSU homers can say what they want... We are no better than AU in the SEC behind Bama.........

I expected to not have our poo pushed in by MSU or to lose at home to Troy. O wasn’t hired to rebuild. He was hired for continuity and recruiting which thus far is underwhelming. Credit to O for turning things around after his boss had to call a meeting. Auburn was a nice win especially after being down 20. We should be favored in the last 3 and if we win whatever 2nd tier bowl we likely get 10-3 will have us ranked in the top 15. That’s not bad but basically what Miles was doing. So next year better show drastic improvement.

We fully agree. I think I might be a little more optimistic than some though.

How long will it take us to reach the Miss. St. and Troy level?

It's amusing how some want to over look those 2 cluster shits like they happened in another season.

We are 6-3, unranked, in 4th place in the west, and with 2 terrible L's on the seasons record. That wasn't acceptable for the past staff and shouldn't be for this one either. imo

Everyone predicted we'd get blown out.

I guess they are pleased with the fact that obviously the team (defense and OL especially) have improved week to week.
