Just curious if anyone thinks/knows/has experience one will ensure more timely delivery than the other.

I’m a fan of the apple upgrade program. Phones unlocked, so you’re not tied to any carrier, and it comes with Apple care. I pre-ordered through the Apple store app yesterday making the process quicker Friday.

The Apple Store app on the phone is the easiest and fastest way to do it.

Make sure you have a credit card loaded through Apple Pay and you just have to give your thumb print instead of typing all that info in.

Yeah, check it out on Apple app. You can get approved for it ahead of time so all you have to do is hit purchase come Friday.

Isn't the Apple upgrade program actually more expensive? It seems that with Sprint you don't pay sales tax but you do with apple. I've been going back and forth between Best Buy, Apple and Sprint.

Also Apple just told me you can only be pre-approved if you have previously been a member of the Apple upgrade program. New Customers cant be pre-approved and must go through the approval process.

You have a choice? I have a 7+ is am sending back in for an X, yearly plan.

My thing is I doubt I will stay up to 2am to call them and I think I would end up on the next shipment list which sucks. I plan to call around midnight to see if they will bend the rules since it's a business account.

Don’t be silly. That’s where they sell the Pixel 2.

I do mine through Apple. Going to be nice to wake up at 2 on Friday and just hit the home button a few times. iPhone will be at my office next Friday.

Glad they are shipping to the Apple Upgrade Program members this year. I hate going to the store.

I called AT&T and at least the business side will not be taking calls at 2am, LOL. Like I am going to be awake.

Said to call at 7am CST to order on Friday, tomorrow.

OP I don't know the answer from personal experience, but I asked the same question after switching to AT&T over the summer (ended up getting 8+ after the keynote), and was told repeatedly that Apple is by far the better choice for getting a shot at the earliest batch of phones.

It sounds like AT&T is an easy option at other times, but basically they said that if you get your order in via Apple and get a ship date, it probably won't slip. But lots of people claimed even after orders were taken by AT&T, their ship dates just kept creeping backwards.

I think the X will be a ridiculous seller and it'll be hard enough to get one early through Apple, much less AT&T.

Same. Do I need to keep refreshing the Apple Store app or will it automatically do it?

I’m at work so I’ll get on right at 2:00.

I got the 8+ last month so I’ll just give this one to Mrs. boxo

I'm with ATT now.

Plan on switching to Verizon.

Should I order the phone through Apple or wait to go to Verizon store?

If I order through Apple, will I get a "generic" phone, or do I have to order a Verizon version?

Will I save money if I go to the Verizon store? I plan on buying the phone outright. This will be a business expense.

I don’t know if you can order an unlocked phone.

It only gives me the option to replace my current phone or add a new line. When I preordered my 6+ three years ago you had the option to buy an unlocked one, but they took the option away.
