There are quite a few cars that have been linked with sunroof explosions due to internal stress. I think Mazda was one of the manufacturers but not 100% sure.
I should have said an imbalance in the internal stress, all sunroofs will be tempered glass so it is one big sheet of opposing stresses.

Wtf you talking about. Tempered and heat strengthened glass are strong as shite. Thermal expansion didn't do that.
That being said. The glass is extremely thin and got damaged at some point. After being damaged it probably cooled down and tensile stress was applied
