Wrong. I was agreeing with the same reasons you just typed.
The advice would have been given to any president therefore you are incorrect

Wrong. And a lie. Kelly gave his reasons and I heard them. And I believed them. You are projecting your hate onto anyone who is not a Trumpkin. The reasons were exactly as you had typed

I have to not take this as a good assumption.
I think it is evident that Trump's persona is not geared toward eloquence, or expressing deep feelings with empathy. He is an attack dog.
I have no doubt that his 'heart was in the right place' - but I do not doubt that he was operating in an arena that he is manifestly not qualified for. Especially when he is interacting with a probably political foe.
I don't necessarily believe that Kelly would have given that advice to Obama - if noting else, Obama would be capable of being soothing and masterful in projecting genuine empathy - even if he thought the opposite.
I think it was foolish for Trump to put himself in that position - knowing there is a predatory MSM out there and a vile DEMOCRAT party who are in cahoots with each other to purposefully misinterpret anything he said.
He would have certainly been attacked by the MSM/DEM cabal had he not made the calls - but then he could have responded from his platform of strength = he could have said "It is sad that I could not call to offer my condolences, but I know that you in the media would have looked for any word out of place to attack me with - and that would not have been fair to a grieving family. YOU are the reason normal intercourse can no longer take place in America - and you are demonstrating it NOW with your attack on ME rather than allowing grieving families even a moment of sorrow"
