He'll certainly have games like that. But he'll also have games like this. I'd want more out of my 2nd overall pick. Teams will regret passing on Dennis Smith Jr and I'm no Mavs or NC State fan.

Not just in the league...he’s starting. Wtf Luke Walton

He only played 13 minutes in the game. The Lakers are still in rebuild mode, he is one of the most respected vets in the league and can mentor Ingram. Both went to Duke and they already have a pretty close bond. He was considering retiring at the end of last year, so this could be his last year. The Mozgov/Deng contracts were obviously very bad, Deng could dealt at the deadline by packaging Randle or Zubac with it.

I'm convinced most of the problems with hoops revolves around the summer AAU circuit. College coaches were just part of the system. Nothing they could really do when you have to go through the Ball's and all the other handlers around these players. I hope Lonzo is the biggest bust ever!

Obviously this is more difficult than the Summer League, but I’m pretty sure this board had a similar reaction to his 1st game there.

Didn’t help he was covered by one of the best and most physical perimeter defenders in the league in his 1st game last night.

I love P-Bev...from another article:

quote:

According to The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears, Beverley appeared to direct his emotion toward Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball, saying, "Weak arse motherf--ker. Bring him out on the court with me and I will tear his arse up."

I've always been concerned with his athleticism and his jump shot. I think he'll be a decent player but the hype for him is just absurd.

Got downvoted to hell by "Laker Nation" for suggesting that LaVar would cause problems. We haven't even gotten to the "LaVar runs his mouth about the Lakers" stage yet, and players are already taking it out on his son.

There's no problems.

Unless you think Patrick Beverley was trying extra hard and doesn't usually go all out but did for this one?

LaVar has used controversy to make money and drum up publicity all off-season. And, hey, I have to kinda admire what he's been able to accomplish with his brand...he's a hell of a marketer.

It's the other edge of the sword now though. Part of the backlash from acting like that is he's put a gigantic target on his kid's back and guys are gonna go at him. It's put up or shut up time now that the season is underway.

Beverley was absolutely singling the guy out. He always busts his arse on defense but his one goal in that game was to shut down Ball.

So Patrick Beverley and other guys don't tend to go all out but they're going to go all out vs Ball?

I don't buy that.

You don't have to. Beverley said as much in his interviews.

quote:

"With his stardom comes — what’s the term? 'Much is given, much is required?' " Beverley said. "You know he’s a great talent. Don’t get it mistaken. In a couple years, he’s going to be a really, really, really good talent. He has a good feel for the game. But you know, due to a lot of extra stuff outside of basketball, that’s a lot of pressure put on him and he has to perform on a stage like this every single night. And it’s not only going to be me. It’s going to be a lot of people trying to go at his head just because of his name, and he has to embrace that first, understand that first, and try to find his own way — whatever that might be."

But what would an actual NBA player know? I'll defer to the message board poster.

got blasted to kingdom come when I suggested that lonzo wasn't a good enough athlete to be a star in the NBA. he's just not a plus athlete. he's not. he's slow footed, i don't even give a shite about his jumper it's not horrible he's just not a good enough athlete to tet all this hype and it's fricking clear as day when you watch him play. he's slow as frick.

meanwhile my boy d fox is looking like a future 8-10 time all star.

basketball is the one sport where you can throw all that chrisma / lunch pale / feel for the game shite out the window in the sense that rather you can complete or not starts first and foremost with are you an athelte. all the feel and vision inthe world isn't going to get him by westbrook and rondo on a nightly basis.

top two picks looking like shite.
