I read somewhere else they were selling it for $13/plate, so there was still some profit. Although you’re right - $13/plate when you make it yourself is much more profitable.

I checked out their yelp page and was surprised to see that most of the food looks pretty good actually. Looks like a small breakfast / lunch cafe. I guess they just don't want to mess around with making fried chicken 
By the size of the place and the variety of the offerings I would bet there's several other items on the menu they don't make.
