Ellen licensed her name to a gaming company. They place machines at casinos they have contracts with. Ellen gets the licensing fee. I would be very very surprised if she gets a cut of any upside. The gaming company making the machines sells or leases to the casino and the casino keeps 100 percent of the gambling monies.

For this to be something nefarious Ellen and MGM are in on a mass murder so that MGM can make more profits off of he Ellen slot machines. Ellen then in turn would get a larger licensing contract next go around?

Now...if you really want to go down this rabbit hole...how about this? G2E...the annual gaming conference held in Vegas....where all the big game makers and software companies and anyone that has anything to do with gaming hardware and software started....the night of the shooting.

Clearly MGM and Ellen had this planned out.
