The most plausible conspiracy explanation is that the mob who runs the casino wants to shut him up because they don't want to pay out massive lawsuits. This would explain the private security guys who were "guarding" his home prior to his disappearance.

I could see that or Campos having some personal connection to unsavory elements that are coming back to bite him.
