"Cold" is a relative statement of temperature. So is "hot." They are both things. You should have had a better teacher.

Nah, in science the scale of heat begins at 0 degrees kelvin (of heat). Cold is not a scientific term, and is most certainly not "a thing" scientifically. As like a social construct sure cold is a thing, but the science teacher you disagree with is teaching science, not social constructs.
