MLB colluded in the mid-80s to hold salaries down. Players had proof in the form of suspiciously similar contract offers. Owners paid a ton in damages, and the 1993 expansion was done in part to recoup that.

Good call. Presumably they had dozens of player examples with suspiciously similar offers? That would be convincing.
