Manager Joe Maddon set up his team to lose with the worst choice of reliever, while the impotent offense set up the Cubs to lose with the worst choice of pitches to swing at. So much stench, so little space. No, wait, we have infinite space on the interwebs to examine a defending world champion in a death spiral for which blame can start near the top.

Maddon says the issue is the Cubs haven’t hit, and he’s right in that the lack of offense is an issue, and conveniently for Maddon, it’s the issue that doesn’t involve his agonizing pitching decisions.
