Sounds like a great resume for the director of the RDA who SWB just handed to another one of her campaign backers, Chris Tyson.

I've yet to see the qualifications or experience needed for handling the day to day functions of a parish with a budget of almost $1B and near half a million in population.

Go look at the resumes of other city managers like Austin and tell me he's as qualified.

Glad he's a nice guy though. That makes up for not having a background in public administration.

It's a good move politically too though. Broome went hard after the SJW crowd after the election. I guess to secure her base?

No mention of the turribleness of the Council on Aging. Every comment has been geared toward north baton rouge. Her first big initiative was a tax increase.

Gissel is hardly far right wing, but by picking a white moderate/republican, she at least has a chance to get heard by the half of the parish she was ignoring.

And he really does know a lot about Baton Rouge government (albeit from the outside). Not every nook and cranny, but public works and planning and taxes (since he was a developer). That's a pretty good base to start.

Don't disagree with that just by seeing the reactions of those who that felt smart voting for him because he was an independent.

Will concede that as well, but I know a little about the UDC and certain codes in Baton Rouge too. Throw a rock at a Builders Association meeting and you'll find someone with those qualifications.

Just because someone turned a crime problem around by leading the Neighborhood Watch doesn't mean they would make a good police chief either.

A city as large as Baton Rouge deserves better, especially given the problems we face and the incompetent leadership he'll have to answer to.
