Gissel is a great choice. He's a really nice, smart guy who believes in this town and has a massive stake in its success (owns half the rent-houses in downtown). He is one of the main visionaries, and also the first, that transformed downtown from a Scooby-Doo ghost town after the 80's oil crunch into the visibly vibrant city center it is today. He basically single-handedly gentrified Spanish Town.

I am shocked that she picked someone so competent.

Sounds like a great resume for the director of the RDA who SWB just handed to another one of her campaign backers, Chris Tyson.

I've yet to see the qualifications or experience needed for handling the day to day functions of a parish with a budget of almost $1B and near half a million in population.

Go look at the resumes of other city managers like Austin and tell me he's as qualified.

Glad he's a nice guy though. That makes up for not having a background in public administration.

This will be his problem. The NBR Economic Redevelopment folks will fight anything this guy does that's contrary to anything they want. And his race, gender, and economic status will be the main focus as they will insist that it is some sort of conspiracy.
