quote:

Penn State officials are preparing for Texas A&M to make a run at hiring James Franklin should Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies part ways, CBS Sports has learned.

Franklin's head-coaching profile has steadily improved since leaving Maryland for Vanderbilt in 2011. Since that time, he has won nine games twice at Vandy before capturing the Big Ten title and leading the Nittany Lions to the Rose Bowl last season.

Penn State should offer him as many little boys as he needs to convince him to stay

A&M gonna have to pony up big. Franklin makes way more per year at PSU right now than what Sumlin makes

Sumlin average $5 million, Franklin's extension is for like $6.5 annual

This must be over a week old.

They only lost to bama by 8 so Sumlins a great coach now and they wont lose another game.

Sounds like the school is going to give Franklin an extension with a financially irresponsible bloated buyout.

Yeaaaa, Sumlin is getting at least one more year. Especially after he beats Orgeron.

who possibly benefits from a story like this:

Franklin, obviously...he likely gets a big raise at Penn State due to this rumor

Ohio State? They can float the idea that Franklin may be leaving Penn State to recruits

Texas? They can float the idea to recruits that Sumlin is on the outs

CBS Sports? The get website hits on a slow day.

Either way, I am looking forward to the Coaching Changes board!

Franklin's agent about to play A&M and Penn State like a fiddle so Franklin gets a bigger paycheck at Penn State.

Makes no sense, the AD at TAMU is BFFs with Jimbo and talk every day. That's the actual play
