Wader Recs

I'm tired of sweating my arse off in our hot winters and am wondering if anyone has found some good duck hunting waders that are a little cooler. I definitely want to go breathable and am thinking about these Drake EST Breathable waders that are sweet as hell but I'm hesitating spending $300 on a pair when I already have some that are just too warm. So either let me know what you got or just talk me into pulling the trigger on these

Do not get the Drakes... go with the breathables from Academy, I've got a pair that are coming up on their 4th season, and I'm pretty hard on equipment. Hang on to the box, if anything happens to them, exchange them, Academy will exchange without batting an eye.

stitching wont last. we send a ton of their waders back
interestingly enough, i've found that the Lacrosse waders hold up longer. alpha swampfox for early season, swamptuff pro for late season

2 pairs of waders for early and late “seasons”? Come on man

I break ice in my breathables every season. Stand in frozen timber all morning without a problem. It's all about layering.
Another thing I've started doing is welding all of the seams with 5200 when I take them out of the box. That stuff is the tits

Not sure about everyone else but I'll never buy one more piece of equipment or clothing made by Drake. Everything I've had made by them has torn, ripped, failed pretty quickly. I'd look into the Banded waders on the higher end or the Academy waders on the lower end. I know people who swear by the Cabelas breathables too.

Do you use the insulated alpha swampfox or non-insulated?
If insulated are they too hot during early season?

Same here, everything I've owned that was Drake made has fallen apart on me but I know multiple people who've had Drake waders last for them so I was thinking maybe they were an exception. I should probably just stick to my experience with them, which is avoid Drake.

Lacrosse Swamp Foxes are good. I've had a pair for three years now and they've held up pretty well, and I'm very hard on waders.

drop tops ftw. very light, but usable when it's really cold if you layer up

have lacrosse neoprene and banded thin/breathable. love them both, but the lacrosse seems tougher. usually by 2nd split, Im in the lacrosse, and they get put through the ringer. tree limbs, briars, ice, you name it.
