this is just a common meme that dates back to at least the late 70s with the Satanic Panic
pedophilia and killing babies is seen as the ultimate taboo, so when people want to create a boogeyman that is so far removed from their perception of life, it's a common example used. that's why it was linked to Satanists and why it's linked to "the elite" now

Gore Vidal was a notorious paedophile and was as elite as elite can be. He doesn't come up as often but he was one of the pioneers of that leftist embrace or explanation of paedophilia being a part of the male homosexual journey and having the older man "assist" the younger boy (basically what Milo tried to explain and got crucified for. But Milo wasn't advocating for it, Vidal and Jacob Weisberg of Slate advocate for acceptance of paedophilia.
