The absence of the awful hooligan culture is one of the best things MLS has going for it. You should be able to go to a match and support your team without fear of being beat up by other fans. Be passionate and drink plenty of beer, even light some flares as long as you don't throw them on the field, but support your team with class and don't throw shite at the players and referees.
We are not third world savages in this country, and our current soccer culture reflects that. Let's keep it that way. There should be no tolerance for the hooligan bullshite that goes on in places like Brazil, Poland, and Russia, just to name a few.
The Bundesliga proves you don't need crazy hooligans to still have a great atmosphere. There are a few, but it's nowhere near as bad as in other countries. I hope MLS stays on its current path.

Well Ultras and Hooligans are not the same thing
And I’m Germany the hooligans fight in the streets, well most the time
