Recovery Time - How Long after This O-debacle

Assuming we hire a competent HC, no more than two years for every year O stays.
We still have lots of talent.

We are 3 years away from returning to that level with a great coach.

What we have that a lot of places dont is a lot of local talent.
A good coach who can recruit well could turn it around pretty quickly.

It ALL depends on when LSU decides to end this waste of time. That is, get rid of BOTH the AD and HC.
If you do it after this season and are willing to pay for a good replacement, the new coach would have two top 10 recruiting classes (2016 and 2017) to work with. The 2018 class might be a bit of a wash, but it would put the staff in good position to capitalize on what is expected to be a very good 2019 class of Louisiana players. Cutting ties now would probably only cause a relatively small drop-off and you would likely be a serious contender again by 2019
If you keep O/Alleva then you essentially tank next year as well because the program/coaches/players have quit on Ogeron. It also sets your back much further in recruiting. Firing Ogeron after next year puts your "return date" no earlier than 2021 IMO. If you keep O 3 years then your likely looking at at least 5-7 years from this season before LSU would have a chance to get back to where it used to be.

If O wins like 5 games this year, they'll fire Alleva. shite - I bet Alleva is already pretty much fired in anything but name only. Orgeron will at least be given ALL of next season. If he wins at least 8 games, there's no way the AD (whomever it is) fires him.
If he wins 6 or less, I'd bet that would be enough to can him after next season. Recruiting will be fricked for a few years. Depending on the new AD being a homerun, as well as a coach that can turn it around, I'd guess you're probably looking at 2022 before you start crushing it.
Also, you always have to remember that the SEC West isn't what it was when Saban was here. There's no guarantees that whomever you get can just turn this shite on like a switch. So many fans here have forgotten that but my guess is that they're gonna find out soon enough.

depends on who we hire. maybe see what's available in the nfl next go round. tired of hearing about "zomg recruiting, build young men, one heartbeat, blah blah, etc". we have a supposed recruiting expert as a hc right now. to bad he can't coach very well. i think anyone who tries a little bit can recruit at lsu in the age of cable television.
unless they've proven lacking in coaching ability...

A great coach could probably contend for the SEC within two years and more in three. Great coaches are hard to find though.
If the season goes as it is trending then both Alleva and O should be gone and a normal hiring process for first AD and then HC pursued. The buy out sucks but LSU is stuck sinking 12 million in O whether that means a single terrible year or multiple years of descent.
