Nuclear fission is indeed the safest and produces no c02. But nuclear fusion is the holy Grail that I don't think is too many decades away. It's safer than fission because it has no real waste.
We should put all our eggs in the fusion basket and stop wasting time with wind and solar.

That is too risky. The best strategy is to look at multiple options and let the market decide which is best.
There isn't one clear answer. I think nuclear deserves a lot more attention but america does nuclear completely wrong.
