I get your point. But elite programs do not come from such things. It takes years or decades of struggle to come back from. Nebraska, Notre Dame (a couple of times), tOSU, Michigan, USC, Bama, UF, Miami, Texas... the list is long.

The other list, the one where major setback cause a "reset" followed by consistent top-10, not even championship, seasons within 4 years:
