I think they make around $100,000 if they win a race. If they are last I think it’s like $15,000 or so. But some get a lot of endorsement money.

That can't be right, that's bowling money.
And you can't be killed bowling. (mostly)
You get $50,000 just for showing up to the US Open in tennis.
Last place in US open in golf makes more too.
