You'd think a broken window would trigger some sort of alarm in a hotel like a big Vegas casino one.

Eh, not really. I mean what's that going to do? How reliable would that be? They'd probably have false alarms all the time?

If someone is going to break a window and jump, security is not going to get there fast enough to save them. They still have to knock, you can't just bust in for a false alarm.

It did. They have alarms that trigger when a window breaks, so they know exactly where to go and who is in the room. That's presumably why the security guard went up there to check it out and got shot.
