My guess is that they're taking their first steps towards exclusive online streaming content like Netflix and Amazon. And they have to start with something and if they put it on regular CBS then they don't have a draw for their exclusive online content.
I don't know if it's a good strategy or not. But I have heard you can watch all Star Trek episodes on there I think.
