My buddy (we are all just a few years out of high school) has never left Texas so one day he decided he was giving away all his possessions and writing a book, and he and his other friend took a Greyhound out west and that is where they ended up. They are camping somewhere around there. They said the area around Colorado Christian University is what they like.

They are going to start looking for jobs and find a place to stay. I'm seriously considering meeting them up there in a couple months and living there for 6 months-1 year. I want to spend some time in a cool place with mountains or beach or something. I went to Crested Butte for about 4 days when I was 11 and besides that haven't spend much time in Colorado. I'm probably going to have to live in San Antonio/South Texas for a year or two before I can transfer to a university, so I want to enjoy my time in a cool place before that and save up money.

Collegedropout-

if thats what you want then I highly recommend you get a job at keystone or breck with vail resorts and live in employee housing. You get a job and a place to live in one easy swoop and its a cool place to live for a bit.

I like your ideas, but I think trying to live in Colorado to save up money for San Antonio is doing it backwards.

Don't tell anyone you're from Texas. Coloradans hate Texans worse than Alaskans do. The minute you're gone, they'll plot against you.
