perhaps, OP, in previous situations when an ex has texted you while in a new relationship, maybe you were happy with that relationship at the time and didn't think of it as a tempting text.

it could all be about perception.

Nothing wrong, just a temptation brought upon that wasn't called for, solicited or even warranted.

I've succumb in the past with this situation.

It's amazing that it continues with women, no matter how different they are from one another.

Very valid point.

When a man is sated other dishes don't look as tempting, but the hungrier a man is the more enticing other plates look.

It's our nature I guess. More options makes I harder to stick with the one you have at the moment.

It's all about how strong the bonds are. Attraction waxes and wanes and unless the ties are truly binding they aren't much use at all.
