just watching sec now and chris doering showing moo state stopping our running game. we had 1 on 1 coverage on our receivers with 1 high safety. in other words, they were loading the box and we were running into it. we always had a receiver to catch a 6-8 yard pass but we kept choosing to run into the stack.

not giving up on the OC or etling but hopefully we start attacking. it's early, but we need to try and develop. I trust we will.

rant away.

Apparently we have the hardest playbook to learn in the country or LSU's best WRs are dumb as bricks.

They knew how we would attack. 1-2 WR's mainly running vertical routes. When everything is a 5 step drop and your getting to the qb pretty quickly it helps your second a lot.

They have no chemistry with the QBs. Look at Gage's face catch last week, the timing just wasn't there. I don't understand why in games against weaker schools like Chattanooga or Syracuse or even BYU we don't just fling it around.

Obviously we will be able to run against these teams. Running the ball is 90% physicality. The bigger/stronger guys will push the other guys around. But a sound secondary who plays their roles and knows their assignments can make up for a difference in physicality.

Use these games to work on passing the ball which is more about timing and reading the coverage. Take these games and use them to improve on weak spots rather than giving yourself a false sense of confidence bullying weaker teams.

How many catches total did this receiving core have last year? Only one had multiple catches and even he didn't get very many starts.

Separation is something our receivers have struggled with mightily in recent years. I think we have a young raw talented group of receivers that need some developing.
