How many people in life failed at previous jobs and became homerun hires down the road. You can't judge Coach O or any coach for that matter of one previous coaching job. It was ole miss that was horrible when he got there. Like I said in previous messages is Coach o may not be the right guy. But time will tell and I am riding this ship out.

Can I judge him on the team quitting very early in the game? How about for the persistent sloppy and undisciplined play? Is that fair?

Not very many at all. Gene Stallings is the one most often mentioned but can't think of any other college examples.

Its possible that O turns out to be a homerun hire but it's highly unlikely. This hire was beyond risky and LSU really had no reason to take such a risk due to the fact they had a head start on everybody looking for a coach. Time will tell but O is off to a horrendous start to prove that he has changed.

Except, that's exactly how coaches are judged. If a coach doesnt want to be judged by previous job...he's a fan.
The end.

I had to come back several times to reread this, because I couldn't believe anyone actually typed this out.

So...if you can't judge a person's ability to do a job based on how they did the same job previously...what exactly do you look at when hiring?

Or even better...would we not want to hire a coach with a statistically proven track record of winning championships, or would that previous record be no indication of how likely he would be to repeat that type of job performance?

shite...we may as well have gone to some job fair with a sign that read
