Still a long shot and idk what we'd have to give up for him at this point. But it seems like he's falling out of favor with belli and I'm sure he'd like to get something for him before he leaves in the off season. Lawd knows we can use the db help. LINK

Have you been watching him play? Looks like we avoided getting trade raped as some on here were saying. He hasn't looked exactly great or at least he didn't in week 1. Pretty sure anyone would look good against Aints. We have too many holes to be trading for overpaid players anyway. We need to address the front 4 before even thinking about another DB at this point. When you have 9 seconds to throw the football you can have 4 of the best secondary players in the NFL looking awful.

if its cheap maybe but I don't think it helps that much. We'd need some all world shut down CBs to provide coverage for as long as we're asking our DBs to do right now

The dude was one of the best corners in the league last year and is only making 3.9 this year which I would say is grossly underpaid. I'm sure he's pissed the patriots have shown him no love after all he's done for them and they made it obvious they aren't keeping him around by dangling him out in trades all offseason. If we could trade a 5th for him I would absolutely do it. I would bet he'd play a lot harder for an organization who actually appreciates his worth.

Being desperate is not the way to negotiate especially with the Pats.

He's been up and down these two games. It's a small sample size, and there have been enough miscommunications that it may not be totally on him for meh play, but he's certainly not lighting the world on fire right now.

Idk what would be desperate about it. He's less valuable now than he was this offseason so we'd with out a doubt have to give up less then before. And I'm sure belli wants to get something in return rather than letting him walk. If they ask for to much just don't do it. But I don't see why we wouldn't at least try. if he sucks we can let him walk, there's nothing to lose.

So if we have nothing to lose we give the Pats nothing?

Also the entire league knows we are desperate to win and that everyone's job is on the line for the Saints this year.
That is desperate.

We just got a 5th round pick for a player who shouldn't have even been on the roster. If we can flip that of something of similar value to pats I would absolutely say that we are basically giving them nothing. It would be like trading Anthony for butler. Will they do that, I'd say most likely not but if he keeps falling out of favor the next couple of weeks then I could see it being a possibility. And again if they ask to much then don't do it.

Do not want. He will come with a huge new contract after this season. We need pass rushers to help our young secondary.

the time for that was when brees still played here, brees is gone in 16 weeks, deal with that fact and accept it.

we dont need anything now except for the season to hurry up and end so we can start looking at who our next quarterback is going to be.

if by some miracle we win 4 of the next 6 games let brees play, otherwise start daniel for the last 10 games so we can really see if there is any hope he can actually be our quarterback next year while a drafted rookie is groomed to take over

As much as the draft is a crap shoot. Swinging for the fences trades and high priced free agents are not working.

No more crippling the team with high priced contracts.
Cheaper disposable players in the draft are the way to go.

Not sure how improving coverage for an additional 0.5 - 2 seconds per play on 1 route with 2-3 easy throws available on every snap elsewhere improves the team enough to warrant the compensation required to make that trade work.

Rankins has not been playing as well as hoped in Fairley's absence, Okafor is playing too many snaps, and we still don't have an alpha male LB that requires the OC to specifically game plan for that individual.

Any pick(s) we give up to even attempt to acquire him would be at minimum a 3rd(dont have a 2nd)for an expiring deal that is pending a massive pay raise on a team that could possibly blow everything up this offseason.

Not to mention it is becoming more and more likely that we will be selecting within the first 10 picks of each round making that trade for Kamara look worse and worse with each loss.

We gave up a 3rd last year plus a highly talented instant impact caliber player this year for a player being used as a gadget in a crowded backfield where not enough touches are being spread around as is.

It's clear he's sandbagging this year. He'll land somewhere next year and go back to being his usual self. Smart move for him is to just stay healthy this year and don't lay out to make any plays. Smart IMO.

And the statement about Brees above is 100% accurate. He's gone next year. His pain points with this team is directly related to the lack of performance of the Offensive Line and the defense; they have been key in our inability to field a contending team and keep Brees safe. So far, looks like the same shite. Are we statistically eliminated? Absolutely not. The only remote chance we have to make the playoffs is if our OL is healthy again and we find some amount of inside pass rush. As long as opposing QBs have a clean pocket we are going to lose games. Our secondary is too inexperienced and undisciplined to be relied upon to cover the field as long as they have had to so far.

One thing I have been glad to see is our run defense. Laterally, our guys are fantastic at covering sideline-sideline. Interior DLine needs help so it's not surprising to see some success against us running up the middle. This is an indicator we have some good athletes at OLB.
