Whatever the term -- Socialist, Neolib, Prog -- you are a healthcare provider. You aren't a simple pieceworker. Promoting a system where your patients are more dependent on whims of administrators, politicians, and other laypeople for the quality of their care is a total cop out.

There is no sustainable healthcare system anywhere where providers aren't at the whim of administrators and ultimately politicians. Various government programs are the largest payers for health care. Commercial insurance is tightly regulated. We have to be accountable to politicians and the public.

Look, I have sympathy for those with pre-existing conditions, but why must they get priority over the 85%+ of Americans who simply want lower premiums and costs?

Healthcare reform should be based on helping the most people lower their costs, rather than helping a select few at the expense of all others

So, we just let the ones who have pre-existing conditions die?

If it's genetic/hereditary, no.

If it's because of life choices. frick yes they die. Actions have consequences. You want to shove McDonalds and Sugar in your face all die and develop Diabetes? Fine. But don't expect me to pay for your healthcare.

How can we tell the difference?

What about the patients where it's both genetic and environmental/behavioral?

What about those where their genetics predisposed them to a particular behavior, so they're intertwined even if the cause is ultimately behavioral?

Or we can not let Americans die just because they're sick and poor.

No. Nobody wants them to die. Although I'd venture to guess than people like BamaSJW and others of her mindset wouldn't be all that upset if some did, because that would give them what they want... people dying because Obamacare was messed with.

What I do want is for them to pay more for their insurance because they are utilizing it's benefits more. I don't think that's all that unreasonable.

I can't teach you how to care about other people. You have to get there on your own.

Multiple sclerosis vs:

Weighing 400lbs and developing diabetes, or smoking your entire life and developing emphysema/cancer, being an alcoholic and developing cirrhosis, being a meth/coke addict and developing heart disease. Do I need to keep going on?

diabetics are of type 2, which, to put it bluntly, is the result of making shitty decisions as to what to put in your mouth.

What you do on your own personal street corner is your choice, but diabetes has a genetic component no matter the type.

There's a reason some people smoke and live to 105, and it's not because they chose the 'right' brand of cigarettes.

Regardless, NOTHING in the current G-C bill makes the argument you're making, that only behavioral or environmental PECs should be discriminated against, while genetic or pure chance PECs should be protected. Under G-C, everyone is fricked.

If you support a bill that will rip their insurance from them, you want them to die. Or, you're indifferent for whether they'll die.

Both are shitty, immoral positions.

So yes, it's confounded by recovery from the recession, but Massachusetts adopted MassCare 4 years before the ACA ('06) and their medical debt was dramatically reduced compared to other states.

And no roadgator, haven't run any regressions on all this.

What other socialistic mandates should we tear up? Toss EMTALA? That's got to raise your rates a fair chunk.

And that's not what's being proposed nor supported.

But hey... never let that get in the way of your virtue signaling, histrionics and general overall caterwauling about what the Republicans trying to do to Obamacare.

Yup. Collectivism ensures one can never do better than the average for the group. The only people that are for that... are those below the average.
