Three Traveling Salesmen at a Hotel (No homo)

Three traveling salesmen arrive at a hotel.
One room sleeps three and costs $30.
They decide to split the room and pay $10 each.
They go to their room and go to sleep.
The hotel clerk later realized the room was supposed to be discounted to $25 because of some bullshite promotion.
He wanted to refund the $5 to the men, but he couldn't split $5 between three people easily. So, he decided he'd just give them each back a dollar and pocket the leftover $2 to himself.
So, that's exactly what he did. He knocked on the door, the sleepy salesmen arose, he explained the situation, and gave them each back $1.
The room was $25.
Each salesman has now paid $9 for the room ($28).
The clerk pocketed $2. ($28-$2 = $26)
Where did the extra dollar go?
