Oh was Scooter Libby innocent? This one is always good for a hoot. Why couldn't the president he served be bothered to pardon him?

As a matter of fact, yes. Fitzgerald should have been disbarred for his actions against Libby.

Damn right he was innocent. He was never the source of the original leak that outed Valerie Plame and Fitzgerald damned well knew it almost from Day 1 when Richard Armitage fessed up and told him that he was Novak's source.

Libby's crime was a b.s. "process crime" in that he was found guilty of lying o the FBI in a grand jury about what he remembered. He then went over his notes and offered about a day or two later to come in and revise his statements ....which is something that most prosecutors of the federal level allow for all of time. Fitzgerald would not allow it.

Fitzgerald should never have been allowed to go forward with that investigation after Armitage told him he was the one, but Fitzgerald decided that his mandate allowed him to go further and to investigate the security of handling sensitive material....actually the acting AG at that time ( COMEY) gave him plenary authority which was a carte blanche to go in just about any direction he wanted and could go fishing.

If I were Libby, and I saw Pat Fitzgerald out somewhere, after what he did, I can tell you Fitzgerald would be seeing a maxillofacial surgeon on a regular basis . It was the screw job of all screw jobs.
