It can be shored up in a year or two with the right guys. To be totally fixed it will take at least 3 to 4 years. IMO with a strong Juco class on the OL and DL, get one more big MLB, and another QB, next year can be a decent year. I think we will get some good WRs this year, and we have some good RBs who we can use by committee to be serviceable. Y'all saw what State did with their RBs.

With a solid OL the RBs look much better. You don't have to have big stars at every position to build what you want. LSU can get enough stars at key positions to beat most of our competition. OL, DL, MLB, and QB are the most important positions for LSU at this time. If we can add (2) very good Juco guys along the OL and DL then sign at least another big MLB, and a QB then fill the rest with WR and CBs LSU should be ok for next year. I might drop one of the TEs we have for a MLB.

I think we have our QBs for the next 3 years in Brennan and Narcisse. It's always good to get one QB each class but it's not critical next year (unless either is injured).

For the OL and DL, is depth really the problem, or is it rather talent, unit cohesiveness or some combination thereof? If it's the first we need to sign numbers at the position and train them for playing in a few years with spot duty in the immediate future. If it's the second, we may need to sign just the right few guys. If it's the third, the players just need to execute the schemes. At least on D, we know the problem is not the schemes or the coaching. We can be confident of that.

For DL, aren't we really playing three DLs (assuming Key and Chaisson are LBs)? If that's the case, do we really need more than 8 guys at DL for adequate depth? For next year, we'll have Lawrence, Alexander, Logan, Farrell, Fehoko, Shelvin, Thomas, and our signees. It seems like we really just need a star rather than numbers.

I'm not sure what the problem is with OL but it looks like we'll only be losing Malone next year and hopefully Deculus develops into the solid OT we hope he is. We'll have Clapp, Brumfield, Weathersby, Charles, and several others back. We've seen several of these guys play over the last few years and while OL may not have been as dominant as we'd like I can't say it's been a weakness.
