For LSU:

All the naysayers and all the O detractors are waiting to pounce. All the 3-21 @ Ole Miss guys who say he is the same guy are waiting in the weeds. This is the biggest game in the SEC this week....I think both teams are better than Tennessee or Florida.

If Coach O and his LSU Tigers have a strong showing on the road, it will be difficult for the doubters moving forward. He will have proven his plan and philosophy are resonating with the team. Win this game and he is 5-0 headed to Florida.

For MSU:

All the national media say Mullen is the 2nd best coach in the SEC. All the national media is in love with Fitzgerald. People are putting him with labels as best player on the field Saturday night. This is a huge prove it game for Fitzgerald proving he can grind out SEC victories against tough defenses.

In addition, MSU has a revamped D. Can they become a top 5 unit in the SEC this season? They are at home and are portraying an extremely confident mindset despite the lopsidedness in the series. I don't think they respect Coach O based off the past, but he isn't going to be on the field.

This is a HUGE game.

I agree. At this point, what LSU and MSU thinks they know and what they DO know is still undetermined.

It will definitely be a "show me" Saturday.

I agree that it would be a nice win and would be especially encouraging if we cut back on the penalties and hit some FGs, but since when did beating State become such a monumental accomplishment? We still have to play Auburn, UF and Bama.

Hahaha I love how all the negatiger fire Les Miles people are now the we love O for running the same offense. 50 pre-snap adjustments Guice left, 20 pre-snap adjustments Guice right, 25 pre-snap adjustments 50 yard hail mary and hope for the best. The ONLY thing different is all the presnap movement. And that is not different becuase negatigers complained about that when we fired the OC before Kragthorp. LSU has run the Canada offense under circa 2010-13.

O does not have near the track record of Les Miles. Until he wins the SEC and has a National Championship, he will be a questionable hire.

Lsu losing this game would be a huge FAIL. No one was predicting a loss to State when the season started. Good programs WIN the games they're supposed to WIN.

I see what you're saying but it won't play out that way. If Moo St wins then they will get some love. If LSU wins it'll be because the bulldogs aren't that good. That's always how this plays out.

This is going to be a very tough game and, yes, I am aware of the history. We haven't exactly rolled over them last few years. This MSU team is much better than last year's team and this is our first road game in tough environment with many freshmen. We better be much better with not getting penalties, which is a challenge in that environment. MSU's defense is best we've faced and they are better than us up front right now. Not real excited about what we have right now with NT and two D-ends. No depth there and if we don't have Lawrence, it makes a difference. How muck Key can give us is still a question. I believe that the key is our offensive's ability to make plays and avoid turnovers. Hopefully we get this win and have a chance to get healthy on defensive line before next big game. FH really let this team down because he was going to be a big player on the D-line.

It will validate what LSU fans have known since the A&M game: that LSU is an SEC force to be reckoned with relative to outsiders' opinions of the team. LSU should be able to win this game IIRC Mississippi State hasn't defeated the Tigers in Starkville since the beginning of the millennium and we sure as hell aren't about to start now with Guice, Etling and our Aranda-led defense.

If I am not mistaken, LSU has beaten MSU in sixteen of the last seventeen meetings between the two programs. This year's iteration of the Tigers is exponentially more talented than MSU. We should beat the Bulldogs handily. Losing the game would be a terrifyingly inauspicious start to O's SEC tenure.

You're half right. Win this game and Mullen's star is shining bright. But if O wins, so what? You beat a long time doormat that is currently ranked as the 30th best team. If O beats everyone else, but loses to Bama, Auburn and Florida, the season sucks.

He has to beat all but two teams in order to have a successful season, and with two losses it isn't highly successful unless he wins his bowl. So, no, this isn't the prove-it game for O...unless he loses.

As long as we have aranda we have the best coach on the field in most games, and I'm taking him again here.

Fitzgerald, the best player on the field? The same field as Guice? No.

If beating Moo State is a prove it game for Coach O, we have lowered our standards.
