That's the thing. ESPN's decision making as to the broadcast team wasn't based upon competency and ability. It was based on checking diversity boxes. They had a female PBP person (who honestly isn't bad at her job) and needed another minority to meet their quota. Lisa Salters, who is black, is already the main sideline reporter for MNF. ESPN figured we have two women on the 2 broadcasts, one of which is black. Now we need a Hispanic person to play a role. So this guy was selected and put in a position that he never should have been put in. So what happens when you force someone who is uncomfortable and inexperienced to do something? They come across as uncomfortable and inexperienced.
