I'm sorry you all have had bad problems with TRC but I cannot join in on the hate parade. When we flooded last year they were the *ONLY* organization that showed up in our neighborhood and they did so every single day for two months.

While their bureaucracy may be a giant shite-burger the ground-level volunteers that brought us hot food and cold waters every day were God-sends for us.

A group of us went and volunteered last weekend to cook for which wound up being 2,600 people. We brought travel trailers, food, fuel, etc. completely self-sufficient. Goal was to get to Houston but on made it to Lake Charles and had a contact beg us to come to the arena where the Cajun Navy and others were staging... well that was a shite show...

What we did find out is that The Red Cross closed 5 evacuation spots run by volunteers and forced them to go to the Alexandria location that they had set up. They even took hot food cooked by volunteers and threw it away. They were threatening the volunteers and locations with being arrested (who the frick gave TARC any sort of power is beyond me).

Here is the kicker... TARC gets 14.00 a plate for each evacuee paid by FEMA (tax payer dollars).

To be explicitly clear. frick THE RED CROSS. They need to be dissolved immediately. Lucky for us, we were able to find a private location and help the Orange Texas OEP as well as a lot of other people on food delivered.
