re: Health Insurance Plan Choice-- Need Advice

Are you eligible for an HSA with the HDHP? If you don't use health insurance much would it make more sense to put the premium amount in the HSA to use in the future? In my case I have a HDHP which is free through my company (preventative is 100% paid by company). Instead of paying for a traditional plan I just set aside the premium amount into an HSA. I see it as saving the traditional premium instead of throwing it away each month.
