I grew up going to a camp on LV (the lake itself) sure there are gators and snakes in the water but that is EVERWHERE in LA. Swam my arse off around the dock and the camp backed up to the swamp. Shot the snakes and gators with pellet guns
We still go to parties on the lake and are never bothered by wildlife. Its by no means a clear water lake

i spent a lot of time on (and in!) Belle River and Lake Verret in college and in my 20's.
Looking at properties on zillow, most on LV or the surrounding rivers/bayous are on leased land. How does that work? it says 5 year lease. in 5 years the land owner could decided they don't want to lease to you any more and you're screwed?
