Hurts (240 of 382 for 2780 yds) also had 112 more pass attempts than Etling (160 of 269 for 2123) Comparing rushing stats is moronic.
Another poster compared our returning starters to Alabama. I then listed facts about both returning qb's. Not opinions. Facts. So is he moronic or through some message board transitive property does that pass to me since you disagree with something I didn't even do?

Hurts also accounted for 14 turnovers, 9 picks and 5 fumbles lost and he really declined towards the end of their season.
He also accounted for 36 total touchdowns last season. He threw for 347/4 td's vs Miss St. and 286/2td's vs Auburn, both towards the end of their season "when he really declined"

Makes for a very interesting season with a new OC IMO.
Would you be satisfied with these numbers from Etling this season as a 5th year senior?
2800 yards, 22 td's, 10 int's, 62% completion?

Etling being a 5th yr senior means nothing. It would only be his second year as a starter and having to learn a new system. Shouldn't be an issue since he's done this before since transferring in. I'm not so much concerned about those numbers in particular, just in the opportunities to get the ball downfield, which we all know he's not/wasn't in control of. He's a different style of player. Not a mobile guy and will never have as many rushing TDs as Hurts, who himself is learning under a new OC and I suspect will have his own problems. The benefit he has is he can tuck it and run when he can't find anyone downfield. Of course he'll have big numbers rushing because anyone who understands man to man or even zone coverage knows the QB is mostly unaccounted for. I know this does not answer your question but I don't think your question is one that can be realistically answered. On second thought I'm perfectly fine with this as long as they're W and not L.

Way to hype up Hurt's stats against those teams. All this says to me is he got nearly a 1/3 of his season ending stats in 2 games, to include 3 of his 9 picks came in those same two games. Really??? I noticed you didn't mention his performance against LSU where he played like crap as a passer but was their leading rusher out of not being able to generate any offense until very late in the game. Comp 10 Att 19 Yds 107 CMP 52.6% LNG 52 TD 0 INT 1. LS served him his lowest QBR of the regular season so I guess you're right, he wasn't in decline, we just played that well in coverage. This game was also his 3rd lowest completions of the season. If you want to crown him, crown him. Johnny Manziel 2.0 IMO. Great runner when DBs and LBs are in coverage deep down the field with their backs turned. Less than average passer. PS, this game was late in the season.
