What? There are a lot of story missions and strike areas that are impossible to get to in a regular patrol.
Also traditional MMOs are filled with boring quest in world zones that you run through over and over. I still don't see the difference.
Just that the traditional MMO is much larger. And that would be because it would be insane to have a shooter as big as say WoW or FF14.
Raids are the best part of PVE Destiny. The fact that you have not done them shows me you are just looking for some solo experience or have not played the game much. The game may just not be for you.

I haven't played since the Taken King, but I'm pretty sure up to that point, very few if any areas were exclusive to strikes or story missions.
the "boring quest" aspect of Destiny is the patrol mission structure. There should be one unique map per planet for patrols. They should be less boring just by virtue of the fact you haven't already seen them doing other things.
