They are using a mature engine on upgraded hardware from both consoles.
Graphically the game doesn't look to change much outside of some ambient occlusion and lighting effects. We should at less have the option to run at 60fps @ 1080 or 30fps @ 2160. Yes they are doing checkered board like every other console game to achieve 2160 but still seems like they could have pushed for a 60fps mode.

Bungie said that they would have had to dumb down their game to get it to 60fps on consoles.
