I realize he can, and I don't have the energy to argue over whether he should, but what exactly is gained in pardoning Joe Arpaio?

You like Trump, what is the benefit in doing so?

That under a Trump administration local enforcement of federal laws is appreciated.

His base likes Joe. They will eat it up.

I'd love for him to sign the pardon while up on stage.

For Joe Arpaio? a pardon is the President's forgiveness for commission of the offense, which removes civil disabilities and collateral consequences.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio didn't offend the law, he offended obama.
