Arpaio needs to be pardoned. He got railroaded by Obama for enforcing federal law.

I realize he can, and I don't have the energy to argue over whether he should, but what exactly is gained in pardoning Joe Arpaio?

You like Trump, what is the benefit in doing so?

it looks like he will pardon him; if you do a news search the MSM are already melting calling Joe a racist.

This is how it will go:

Shout from the crowd: "Will you pardon Arpaio?"

Trump: "What do you think folks?" (Waves hand) "Pardoned"

I won't be happy about it. I think Libertarians hate the guy more than Democrats. The guy is a fascist, racist shithead. He can't kick the bucket soon enough.

Cue Don Lemon with the stone face, saying "Another sad day in America where our President doubles down on his support for xenophobia and bigotry."

I haven't really been following this.

1. did he break the law?
2. was he tried before a jury of his peers?

Pardon at this stage would be a poor decision for several reasons.

First, it involves unnecessary use of valuable political capital by Trump. Emphasis on the term "unnecessary", in fact potentially harmful to Arpaio's reputation.

Secondly, implies guilt. Many legal experts say the verdict is wrongly rendered.

Third, Arpaio’s attorneys repeatedly sought and were repeatedly denied a jury trial. This case simply must be appealed.

Fourth, Arpaio faithfully followed legal advice on matters highly questionable and interpreted by the court in the worst possible way for Arpaio. Again, appearances of a Kangaroo Court abound. It demands appeal.

Fifth, sentencing has not been assigned. If Arpaio's sentence is suspended, or is a few weeks of house arrest, there in no rush on pardon.
