Navy has already said they're looking into possible cyber infilitration.
My guess is that the container ships were the ones more likely to be hacked and redirected.

I've been out of the Navy for 17 years, but don't the ships still have INS and Gyro for navigating?
If not the certinanly still have them for backup. If I recall INS only needed GPS for initial calibration, and the gyro didn't need it at all.

* aka...Direct path that from control center to rudders and not hack-able if the auto pilot is off
